Not Quite Sober
official stats and write-up for
Week 10
April 11, 2002
We finally had a week where everyone showed up. This
hasn't happened in a few weeks, so it was pretty nice to see the whole
gang together again.
When we arrived at the bowling alley this week, we saw
that there was only one member of the opposing team. He said that
there may be one other guy showing up soon, but that he knew for sure that
the 2 others would be sick. The second player did eventually arrive
for them, but it was well into the first game, so he had to take an
"absent" score for the first game. For Not Quite Sober,
however, game 1 was a high-scoring affair, with every member of the team
bowling at least 10 pins over his or her average. A team game of
613, our fourth consecutive week with a 600+ game, allowed us to earn the
win.
Nick
had some troubles in game 2, finishing with 98, while Jake
rolled 4 consecutive strikes (and getting screwed on a 5th in the
10th frame) en route to a 198. Jason
had a
rough stretch of 5 frames where he couldn't hit any of pins on his second
ball, and wound up with a 16-under average 117 game. Christina
bowled solidly, finishing 3 over her average as well. All
scores, however, were good enough to pick up our second win of the
night.
Game 3 was a sub par performance by everyone on our
team. We lost the game pretty handily, and, it turns out, we lost
the series as well. We lost the series by a measly 4 pins.
While there were plenty of opportunities throughout the night to pick up
those 4 pins by all players, there was only one of us on the team who, in
a fit of frustration, winged a 7 pound ball down the lane and got a
gutter. I won't name names, because I'm not vengeful like
that. He knows who he is. Wait a minute.. I am vengeful. It
was Nick.
