Week 5

Those pesky Hooters Wings strike again!

Remember week 3, when we went to Hooters and Nick got sick?  Then Nick had a bad day at work, and he bowled really poorly?  Apparently, Jason thought that this was the key to a *good* bowling week, as he successfully duplicated everything that Nick did that week.  Jason took the wings-illness a step further; he woke up in the middle of the night and had to pray to the porcelain gods.

Nick was out of town this week, so Christina's boyfriend Ryan substituted.  He will be subbing for Jason for the last month when he is out of the state, so eventually you'll see stats being tracked for him, and there will be a biography page for him as well.  Ryan bowled well, and when it was determined that we weren't going to win any more games, he brilliantly lowered his average with a 95 in the last game.  This should help out in future weeks, and it's this kind of forward-thinking that could make the difference between our team coming in last place or 15th.

Jason and I (Jake) both had horrible days at work, working the entire day trying to finish a project before a deadline.   With about an hours worth of work to finish, and a deadline 12 hours away, we left work late, had to rush to bowling, and knew we'd have to go back as soon as bowling was over.  Perhaps, subconsciously, this would explain the near absence of strikes, as we wanted to make the games take as long as possible.  Knowing we had to go back to work most certainly affected our beer consumption, which also probably translated into lower, non-alcohol-enhanced scores.  I also missed a TON of single-pin spares, and missed the head pin about 50% of the time on my first ball.  It was pathetic.

Once again, I don't have anything to say about Christina.   She didn't bowl great; she didn't bowl horribly.  She didn't get sick on chicken wings, and she didn't have an excessively bad day at work.  Someday something noteworthy will happen, and I will write about it.  Until then, you'll just have to look at this picture of a puppy.
