Not Quite Sober

official stats and write-up for

Week 9

April 4, 2002

Well... Christina never bowled this week.  We thought that she might "post-bowl", which is similar to pre-bowling, except that you do it after the normal league night.  This was the 2nd week in a row that she didn't join us.

However, even with the default 10-under average score that an absent member gets, we still managed to bowl well as a team.  Also, at least our team showed up, which is more than I can say for the other team (but what can you expect from a team named "Bowlas"?)  At least one of them must have pre/post bowled, however, because when we came in the next week, they had won one of the games, and the recap sheet showed that they had in fact bowled.  Anyhow.. to make long story longer...

The night started with only myself on our lanes.  Jason and Nick were running late, since they had to watch the end of "Survivor" or something, and Christina's boyfriend (Ryan, an occasional substitute bowler) had messed up his ankle playing basketball when he was supposed to be at work or something, so she was at the hospital with him.  Additionally, the other team, as stated before, never bothered to show up, so I got to roll about 30 practice balls.  Nick finally showed up in time to take one practice shot, and Jason appeared shortly after practice time was over.  Looking at the scores for the first game, you can see that I apparently needed more practice, and Jason and Nick both bowled better than their averages.

Game 2 was another low-scoring affair for Jake, while Jason finished the game with a score 3 pins below his average.  Nick came through, however, with a solid 150, taking high-score honors for the game.

Game 3 was one of the best team games we've had all year, even with below-average 126 that Christina received for being absent.  The team-game of 614 was our 3rd highest team score ever, and allowed us to bowl a 600-team game for the third consecutive week.  For us, this is pretty good.  Anyhow, it was enough for the win, so we wound up taking 2 games plus the series.

Points of note:

High Individual Game

High Individual Series

League Awards
  • Nick - 50 Pins Over Average Series (+55)

If you can believe it, there were no other points of note this week.  Nothing.  No turkeys, no splits converted, no beer frames (no "true" beer frames, at least, as there were only 3 bowlers...)  Nothing.  Ah well.  I guess the good news is that there aren't any "shameful" awards, either.
