only. We have purchased a house.
The original text is as follows:
As you may know, buying a house is expensive. What we're offering you is the chance to help a young married couple with one child move out of an apartment and into a house of their own. We would like to be able to buy a house by the end of 2002, so time is running out.
"But what can I
do to help?"
That's an excellent question. There are many ways people can help a family move into a new house. Several of these ways don't involve any money at all.
While we would certainly be grateful for any of the above help, we also realize that it's not very practical for everyone to take time off of work and travel to Atlanta to help some complete strangers mow the lawn and plant flowers. Also, it's not very practical (or necessarily safe) for us to let a bunch of strangers come into our apartment and pack up our books and kitchenware. For these reasons, we have enlisted everyone we know who lives near us to assist with the above tasks.
must be something I can do too!"
In fact there is something you can do. You can become a "friend of the family" with a small monetary gift. Becoming a friend of the family has the following benefits:
|Gift||Status||What you get on our wall|
|$1 - $4.99||Contributor||Your name (but no picture)|
|$5.00 - $24.99||Bronze Friend||a 2" x 3" picture, and your name|
|$25.00 - $49.99||Silver Friend||a 3" x 5" picture, and your name|
|$50.00 - $99.99||Gold Friend||a 4" x 6" picture, and your name|
|$100.00 - $999.99||Platinum Friend||a 8" x 10" picture, and your name|
|$1000 and up||Titanium Friend||a 11" x 14" picture, and your name.|
Probably not. We're not a charitable organization, and we won't be providing you with any sort of tax form or anything. You should probably contact your accountant if this is of concern to you..
"But I'm shy,
ugly, or otherwise not photogenic.
Absolutely, but with some restrictions. The following types of pictures will not be displayed.
Basically, don't be a jerk about it. We really would rather have a picture of whomever gives the gift, but if you want to send a picture of your cat or motorcycle or something, that's fine too.
How do I give you a gift?"
Well, if you know who we are, you can simply write me a check or hand over some cash. Everybody, however, has the option of using PayPal. Simply click on the button below. If you're not an existing user, it's easy to set up, and free for you to use. The session is also encrypted, which is good. PayPal will take a percentage of the gift (something in the neighborhood of 2%...), so if you know me personally, and want to give a large amount, I'd be better off if you just cut me a check.
