What we're offering you is the chance to help a young married couple with one child move out of an apartment and into a house of their own. We would like to be able to buy a house by the end of 2002, so time is running out. "But what can I do to help?" you might ask. That's an excellent question. There are many ways people can help a family move into a new house. Several of these ways don't involve any money at all. You could Help pack or unpack boxes Help load or unload the moving van Help clean the old apartment Help landscape the new lawn. While we would certainly be grateful for any of the above help, we also realize that it's not very practical for everyone to take time off of work and travel to Atlanta to help some complete strangers mow the lawn and plant flowers. Also, it's not very practical (or necessarily safe) for us to let a bunch of strangers come into our apartment and pack up our books and kitchenware. For these reasons, we have enlisted everyone we know who lives near us to assist with the above tasks. "Certainly there must be something I can do too!" you might be saying right now In fact there is something you can do. You can become a "friend of the family" with a small monetary gift. Becoming a friend of the family has the following benefits: You can feel good about yourself, knowing that you helped a nice family move into a nice house. Your picture and name will be added to a wall in the house, which will be the "friends of the family" wall. Barring any accidents (a fire, for example), your picture will remain on the wall for a period of no less than five (5) years. There is no legal contract associated with this; you'll just have to take it on good faith that we'll do this. The picture should be supplied digitally, if possible. The size of picture will be determined by the size of the gift. The gift levels, and respective picture sizes, are as follows:

"Is this tax-deductible?" you might be asking. Probably not. We're not a charitable organization, and we won't be providing you with any sort of tax form or anything. You should probably contact your accountant if this is of concern to you.. "But I'm shy, ugly, or otherwise not photogenic. Can you put up a picture of something else" you inquire. Absolutely, but with some restrictions. The following types of pictures will not be displayed. Pornography "Disgusting" pictures (for example, pictures of decapitated people, or piles of elephant crap.) Blatant religious pictures (a wedding photo in front of a church would be acceptable, however a picture of Jesus at the last supper would not.) Anything else that we wouldn't feel comfortable hanging up in a house that a child lives in. Basically, don't be a jerk about it. We really would rather have a picture of whomever gives the gift, but if you want to send a picture of your cat or motorcycle or something, that's fine too. "Sounds great! How do I give you a gift?" you wonder. Well, if you know who we are, you can simply write me a check or hand over some cash. Everybody, however, has the option of using PayPal.
