So I made this handy-dandy Excel workbook that you can use if you have
a rotating on-call schedule and need a quick and dirty way to plan it
out. You'll need Excel to use it.. I protected many of the fields so you wouldn't inadvertantly break functionality, but there's no password associated with un-protecting them, if you want to customize it however you'd like. Essentially, the way I have it set up, you type a list of names in the light-blue fields (column "N") and the first day (monday in my case) and time that the schedule takes effect. Also, on the "Exceptions" tab, you can put a date in that'll match one of the "start dates", and schedule a manual-type replacement for someone. In my example, Dino is on Vacation, so Mr. Slate is covering him. If you have more than 5 on-call people, just add them in the blue area. Everything else will auto-populate. If you have less, delete them. Try not to cut and paste names around.. it tends to mess up some of the values that the formulas use. Zipped, the file is about 650K. It'll take a minute or 2 to download, even on a fast connection. That is because my upstream is not at all fast. You can download said file here. |
